[ Inigo looks so proud of himself as he stands there. He isn't even surprised by the object Owain apparently had in the bed with him - if anyone would sleep with their sword, it's Owain for sure.. - but instead just entirely satisfied with the end result of his little plan here.

Maybe it's not the way anyone should look with a sword pointed at them, but Inigo is looking like that anyway! ]

Wow, Owain. Did I wake you up? [ He's just being stupid and smug right now. Sorry, bro.

He'll be nice in a moment, Inigo just needs to soak in his victories when he can. There's so few of them! ]

[Owain's slightly flustered as he gains his bearings. He lowers his sword, while continuing to stand on the bed.]

You- you have stirred me. And in doing so, summoned me back to the waking world from the astral plane, in which my mind's avatar was doing battle with untold evils!

[That's how he'll describe his dreams at least, no matter how mundane they actually were.]

I... admit that I did not foresee you awakening this early. I did not imagine you capable of it. And yet, here you are! Bearing tidings of a most momentous birth?

Hmm-mm.

[ A still very much satisfied hum. The grin also lingers on his face. ]

For a birthday, yes. [ Translating Owain speak into regular people speak over here.. ] Are you aware that it was to be someone's birthday today? You look rather startled!

[ Probably since, you know, someone woke Owain up way too early.

But of course Inigo isn't going to point that out. ]

[The bedhead-ridden warrior stares at Inigo, while his brain is still trying to fully wake up.]

Startled? You must be mistaken! The mistaken can see that I am only... mildly perturbed by this intrusion!

[A beat, as he points dramatically at Inigo, this time sans sword.]

You there! What day is today? [That phrasing really stuck with him from one book he read in this world-] Who was born on this day?

[ .. wait, what?

Inigo's pride momentarily vanishes. Mostly because the confusion is so strong that it takes over on his face - coupled with a healthy side dish of offense. ]

Why are you calling me you there?!

[ Apparently that's what got me.. ]

I have a name! You know what it is! I am not your servant boy!

[He sighs, slightly frustrated at the lack of an instant answer.]

It is just a manner of speaking! I am not trying to treat you as anyone of a service nature, as noble as such work might be!

Inigo. My cousin and fellow heir of heroic lineage... Tell me. Please. Who was born on this day??

[ He sighs.

Without actually saying the word out loud. This time.

But at least he's no longer offended over the other's choice of dramatic wording. No, the reason he's giving the other guy kind of a baffled stare is different entirely. Much more of-- ]

.. you really don't know?

[ Just him being baffled, really. ]

The inner workings of my mind are currently reeling as I recover from my trip to the realm of dreams, in which I did battle with hordes of fearsome enemies... At this moment, time and space mean little within the vastness of the cosmos. For all I know, I may have slept for a thousand years!

[And yet, he's starting to piece things together. What month it is, and what Inigo was initially saying when he woke him up.]

So I call upon you, Inigo, my cousin, to bind me to this material realm in the here and now! Please, I beseech thee, answer my query!

.. It's your birthday, Owain.

[ There's way less spirit in his voice now than when he initially woke the other up..

But at least Inigo is also very much realizing that himself. His shoulders slump as he lets out a dramatic sigh. ]

You know, it doesn't feel like a birthday anymore when I have to say it like that.

[He gasps!]

Could it be?! The day of days has arrived? The divine anniversary of my passage into the realm of mortal affairs, in the form of a mere infant...

[Owain hops down from the bed excitedly and approaches Inigo.]

No wonder I heard my mother's voice in my slumber! It must have been an echo of the time when she first called me forth from the womb...!

[Now he clasps Inigo's shoulders.]

I must thank you, Inigo! You have come with good tidings indeed!

[ How come Owain only gets cheery when Inigo has lost the cheer?! Maybe Owain is just a vampire. Sucking the energy out of him. That's got to be it.

But even though he's still not sounding very enthusiastic anymore, what Inigo does still say is: ]

I got you a birthday cake, you know. It's in the kitchen.

[ Yes, he wanted to prank his cousin by waking him up way too loudly for his birthday, but he was serious about this birthday celebration!! ]

[The curse of the cheerpire!]

A cake? Honestly and truly - for me?

[Now he squeezes him with a quick hug.]

Truly you are my kin! I will gladly consume it in honor of my own birth, with immeasurable gratitude!

[With that, Owain rushes out towards the kitchen!]

[ Argh, quick hug, he was not prepared--!!

But before Inigo can even think about hugging the other back, Owain is already off to the races, apparently. ]

O-Owain, wait!

[ Inigo is chasing after him - or at least, he's doing his best. Owain is going so fast! No one should have this sort of energy at butt o' clock in the morning!

At least he isn't calling out because he didn't fully prepare or anything. The kitchen does look prepared for Owain's birthday. Inigo even seems to have gotten little birthday garlands from somewhere, with flags on them spelling out "happy birthday Owain."

The cake set out on the table is even shaped like a sword. (Of course that's a major sign that it's not made by Inigo himself - he got it at a cake shop and asked them to make it like that! But it's probably for the better that no one ever consumes a cake made by Inigo..) ]

[Expect the unexpected! Up to and including a hug!

Owain is Awake now as he races towards the kitchen! He skids to a halt once he reaches the table and gasps while he beholds the cake.]

Incredible! This is no mere cake! It is a... a cake sword...! I never imagined such a delicious and delightful weapon could exist. Inigo, it's everything I ever could have wanted!

[As he says that, he tries to grab the cake by its 'hilt'!]

[ Inigo arrives at the kitchen just in time, apparently. He shows up as he hears Owain's words, pausing in the doorway and putting his hands on his knees to try and catch his breath from suddenly chasing after his cousin early in the morning..

.. and just in time to see Owain reaching out towards the cake. ]

What are you doing?! It's a cake! You can't hold it that way!

[ O-Owain, please, you're going to break it-- ]

Inigo, can't you see? This is not just a cake! It's more than the stuff of fluff and sugar! It is also a sword!

[He says that as he digs his hands into the 'hilt' and feels his fingers sinking into the cake.

He pauses.]

...Hm... Its density leaves much to be desired...

[He slowly pulls his cake-covered hands back...]

.. what did I tell you?

[ What did he literally just tell you, bro!! Inigo is giving those cake-covered hands such an unimpressed stare right now..

At least he does realize that it is still Owain's birthday. He should be nice. Relatively nice, anyway. Nice enough to grab a towel and hand it over to his cousin so Owain can get all that cake off his hands instead of standing there with it covering his fingers. ]

I'm kind of glad I have no idea who your friends here are. This would have been an embarrassing start to a birthday party.

Your words were lost to time, the moment I laid eyes on such a cake... You know, granting it the shape of a sword without any true form is quite misleading...!

[He says as he goes to wipe his hands on a cloth.]

I'd gladly tell you tales of the compatriots I've made thus far! But you are right... It is best for them to not witness me in a moment like this. And a simpler, smaller celebration between kin? That feels right for this occasion.

[ Inigo huffs a little bit. ]

What, are you really enjoying having a birthday party with only me and you here?

It is not ideal, but it is sufficient. [He says while patting his hand on Inigo's shoulder. Which still has some cake on it.]

We're all we have of our home here, after all!

[He doesn't see the need to make a big fuss about this one - even if Haru will later make him wish he had thought otherwise!]

[ You know what? He has a shoulder with cake smeared on it, but-- he'll take it. There are worse things in life. He won't even whine and complain about it, which is clearly a grand gesture coming from Inigo of all people.

Though he will say: ]

Gods, Owain, you at least could have given me a compliment beyond 'sufficient.' [ Please, Inigo, as if you don't wither in the face of every single compliment you get. ]

.. but.. you know. I'm glad you like it all the same.

Ah, Inigo, my cousin! [He smiles and shakes his head while patting his shoulder a few more times.]

You know I seek not to besmirch your name. I could easily sing your praises, though it would be more appropriate to do so on your own day of birth. But rest assured, I am teeming with gratitude at what you have done for me on this day. Truly and sincerely, I feel appreciated, and celebrated.

[He steps back towards the cake. ...And draws his sword.]

Now, I believe the time has come for the cutting of this cake!

Are you really--

[ The words are a little mumbled, considering that Inigo is still kind of embarrassed about what he said a moment ago.. That kind of feeling doesn't go away so easily for him!

But he quits his mumbled exasperation halfway through at the sight of Owain's sword. Instead he just takes a few steps backwards - perhaps to be out of any cake splash range - before he says: ]

You know what? It's your birthday.

[ And Naga knows that Inigo is not going to be able to stop Owain. No one can. He's a force of nature! Sword nature! ]

Indeed it is, and thank you for recognizing it, my cousin! With that...

[He holds his sword above the cake and focuses.]

Rite of the sacred birth! Confectionary cut: slice of justice!!

[With that, he brings his sword down upon the cake several times, cutting it into several pieces! ...While splashing frosting all over the place.]

A battle well fought... [He licks some frosting that ended up around his mouth.] Victory has ne'er tasted sweeter!

[ Inigo is so glad that he knows Owain well enough to have gotten out of the splash zone a moment ago. He's thankfully free from all the frosting that's all over Owain now.. Though there's likely some on the walls to clean up later.

But it's still better than getting it all over him! ]

Owain, when it's my birthday, I'd like for you to note what mess I'm not making then and learn from it, alright?
